A Better Chance Tutoring Inc's purpose is to provide educational experiences to foster academic achievement through a community partnership to students attending urban/inner-city public schools. The primary goal of ABC is to render supplemental educational services through tutoring programs offering services before and after school during the school year.
ABC provides scientifically based hands-on educational learning experiences to foster students' achievement levels in reading and math. A Better Chance Tutoring will complement the vision statement of those school districts involved in the program as well as the vision of No Child Left Behind in which "every child does learn" (www.ed.gov). Our program is built on three pillars: closing the achievement gap, strengthening public schools and empowering parents; challenging students and preparing them to succeed. Consultation and support services will provide professional development to staff, academic support for classroom teacher's data driven instruction and student academic achievement.
Eligible students are all students attending a public urban/inner city school district and have tested on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) as below basic and basic achievement levels. Students attending Title 1 schools are not eligible to recieve Supplemental Educational Services will be given first priority into the program.
